New Stage Theater of Mississippi announces cast for upcoming production of “Gee’s Bend”
Jackson, Mississippi’s own Actress Tarra McGowan-Riggs, was recently cast in the lead role of “Sadie” in the New Stage Theater’s production of “Gee’s Bend” , directed by Francine Thomas-Reynolds.
"Gee’s Bend" is a play written by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder about the ladies of Gee’s Bend, Alabama in the Civil Rights Era and the magnificent quilts they created across several generations in this isolated, closely-knit community. Their story resulted in a historical and culturally rich, emotional play about family values, perseverance, and character.
“Gee’s Bend” will be showing Jan 21 thru Feb 8, 2009 in Jackson, MS at the New Stage Theater.
